ABOUT THE SHOW
Plot
A whimsical detective attempts to solve a murder at a Congresswoman's home.
More about the Inspector
Here's the complicated part: He's not a total dolt, although he can make you forget that at times. While it is true his unbroken string of solved homicides may have more to do with circumstances beyond his control, he does always seem to deliver results.
Production Info
Season 1 is 15 episodes, each averaging around 30 minutes, concluding with a double-episode finale. All dialogue for season 1 was recorded before beginning editing work. Show premiere was February 24, 2019, with releases expected every third week thereafter.
The show (is/was) recorded and produced entirely in downtown Savannah, Georgia at Pigeon Spaceship Studios. There are nearly 62,000 spoken words shared amongst 27 characters in season 1.
Origin Story
Early in 2018, Gregory Bratton started to get an urge to produce a podcast. After deciding to produce an audio drama, the next step was finding or creating a story to tell. After weeks of contemplation, the idea finally hit him. He had already conceived of a character and a story years ago in a song he had recorded. The song was Inspector Virlo Morton Lee from the album Just What the World Is Looking For (2013). From it, the broad strokes of a story outline was formed.
The script was written from March to September 2018. Character casting and dialogue recording ran from October 2018 to February 2019. Post production will continue until the last episode is released.
What Genre Is This?
It's a Murder/Mystery Comedy. Think sort of a mashup of Sherlock Holmes, House of Cards, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Is It Safe For Kids?
This is hard to answer because parenting values vary greatly. If this were a film, the rating would most assuredly be PG or PG-13.
Profanity - (mild) None. A few "craps" is as bad as it gets.
Sex - (mild) An affair is mentioned, but not elaborated on. A couple innocently flirts. Brief kissing.
Drug Use - (moderate) No drugs are taken, although there is a "stoner" character who alludes to its use. Drug trade is discussed as motivation for murder.
Fear and Violence - (severe) Several tense moments where characters are in peril. Gun violence, fighting, etc.
